Please Note: Every few years the wetlands is placed into a dry phase for approximately 6 months as part of a wetting and drying regime that compliments the natural wetting and drying cycles of the wetlands. This allows us to manage the ecosystem and support positive flora and fauna development, particularly among a range of endangered species. Ecological monitoring and the evaluation of environmental assets are regularly completed in order to retain our Ramsar accreditation.
The next phase of drying is due to commence in Mid 2025. This is a wonderfully beautiful time to visit the site as although there is no water, the site displays a unique range of flora and fauna species that rejuvenate during these months, and is still well worth the walk down to the basin.
